Crystal Byrd Farmer is an organizer and consultant in the intentional communities movement. She serves as Co-Director for the Foundation for Intentional Community and is on the Editorial Review Board of Communities Magazine published by the Global Ecovillage Network-United States. She also serves as Co-President for the BIPOC Intentional Community Council. In 2020 she published The Token: Common Sense Ideas for Increasing Diversity in Your Organization. Crystal is passionate about encouraging people to change their perspectives on diversity, relationships, and the world.
Daveed Jacobo: I was born in Los Angeles and raised between Oregon and California, and am second generation immigrant of Mexican and Guatemalan descent. After working for three years in public schools, I sought to find alternative education styles that focused less on conforming and authority and more on creativity and autonomy. I currently work at Village Free School and am a facilitator with PDX Flying Squads in Portland, OR. I am an unschooling and youth advocate, a musician, and a photographer. Annie Friday has a passion for working with young people and families. Annie began teaching as a language teacher before finding magic in the play and care of early childhood. Eventually, that connected Annie to the world of self-directed education and living. You can now find Annie supporting self-directed young people and their families at Blue Bridge Agile Learning Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Annie's other interests include being in nature, spending time with her 2 young children, creating art, and talking.
