April’s Open Call was about playing with the concept of advertising SDE – What does an SDE ad feel like? What does it highlight? Does it point out what’s wrong with other educational philosophies or does it only focus on the strengths of SDE? People were asked to submit a short video, graphic illustration/comic, or written video script that might inspire someone to consider SDE for their family.
For this video, Bria Bloom, ASDE’s Executive Director, and Janice McDonald, Tipping Points Magazine Editor, had fun coming up with and acting out what it can feel like as a person deschools and starts to shed the layers put on them by living in a schoolish society.
This video was originally posted on Hudson Valley Sudbury School’s YouTube Channel. Hudson Valley Sudbury School has since changed its name to Zena Democratic School. This video is reposted here with permission.
