Advisors at Milestone Democratic School provide the core for personalized, community-connected, self-governed learning with a strong focus on social justice. They are generalist instructors who guide and support a small (16 to 22 students), mixed-age group (6th-12th grade) of learners through an established protocol of Personal Learning Plans, Profiles of a Graduate, and Exhibitions of Learning — in a collaborative group daily, and one student at a time always. The great Teacher-Advisor we are seeking has content-area expertise in either English, math, science, history, or special education, and an enthusiasm for learning across disciplines — but more than anything, they have a passion for supporting youth through the challenging and crucial work of growing into their best selves over time. At our Teacher Powered School, Advisors have dedicated time scheduled to help operate, manage, and conduct administrative work for Milestone in addition to leading their Advisory.
