Description
KindKin Collective is a community of people who want to connect and play. The adults in the center value relationships and are there to support young people as needed. The program meets at the learning center and at various parks, beaches, and regional parks. They are a vendor with Heartwood Charter School and offer flexible enrollment of 1, 2, or 3 days per week.
SDE Optimizing Conditions
ASDE surveys all SDE communities/programs about how they provide, enhance,
or align with each of the Six Optimizing Conditions
for young people to succeed in SDE. Survey answers:
- Responsibility – We ask that everyone who joins wants to and is ready to be in community.
- Youth Autonomy – Young people are free to choose how to set their day with access to offerings and the opportunity to lead offerings.
- Access to Tools and Technology – Members are free to choose to play and use any of the supplies in the learning center, including laptops.
- Adult Allies – Founder and facilitators are actively deschooling and providing a container for young people to choose how they spend their time. We support families who may be interested in deschooling as well.
- Free Age Mixing – Young people are around the ages of 7-12.
- Community – Everyone is invited to be a culture keeper and participate in shifts in our culture. We gather together because we want to be in community.
