Mutual Aid Community Asks

There is a big time of need here, as our friends in North Carolina deal with the effects of Hurricane Helene, and a longtime friend, collaborator, and advocate for SDE is in a tough spot and needs some financial support. We are asking those of you who are able to support one or both of these efforts.

Tony is an artist and an educator who co-founded a beautiful school, Heartwood Agile Learning Center, that he ran for many years. He is also simply down on his luck now. He’s been unemployed and has had difficulty finding work suitable to his skillset and his neurodivergence. Learn more and support Tony financially here.

“Our small nonprofit school, Wildwood ALC, suffered a tremendous loss during Hurricane Helene, when the nearby creek swelled to a historic level and destroyed the schoolhouse we were renting and almost 100% of what was inside.” Learn more about the situation and donate to support their rebuilding efforts here.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this, and thank you to those of you who are able to support our friends and community through these difficult situations.

Welcome to

Annie Friday, our new volunteer editor for Tipping Points Magazine!

We want to welcome Annie Friday as our new volunteer Editor-in-Chief of Tipping Points Magazine. Annie has been volunteering with ASDE for the past six months, and brings a wealth of experience in SDE and early childhood education in care to the ASDE team. We are so grateful for her willingness to join as an editor and help support Tipping Points Magazine!

You will find Annie in your inbox and communication channels when you submit an article or have a question about Tipping Points Magazine. Janice McDonald is still around to support Tipping Points but is focusing more of her time on our grant project.

From Annie: “I’m excited to take on more at Tipping Points magazine because I think the content shared there creates more accessibility, connection, and understanding within this world of unschooling and SDE.”

The Supernova Parenting Summit

Guiding Neurodivergent Families Towards Brilliance

Parenting is a journey filled with joy, challenges, and countless learning experiences. But for those of us parenting neurodivergent or mentally ill children, the path can often feel especially daunting and isolating. We understand the unique struggles you face — navigating complex emotional landscapes, advocating for your child’s needs in systems that may not understand, and managing your own feelings of overwhelm and uncertainty.

Harnessing the Intuitive Energy in Self-Directed Learning & Living!!!

A healing and liberation gathering hosted by My Reflection Matters Village

*Note: The dates on the image above should be for 2025.

REGISTRATION IS OFFICIALLY OPEN for Harnessing the Intuitive Energy in Self-Directed Learning & Living!!!

Self-directed learning (SDL) is larger than supporting the freedom of children to explore their interests. This work calls on the ability of people to be in tuned with their intuitive powers in order to ensure one’s true & highest self is doing the leading in their SDL life rather than the hurt parts or the fearful and controlling ego or mind. Our 6 day gathering provides caregivers & educators a mixture of experiences to support them in fine tuning their intuitive gifts so they can better identify and support the intuitive nature of the children they care for.
