“Hi, I’m Blake. In college I discovered the world of alternative and self-directed education, and I designed my own major to study it full-time. I soon joined the Not Back to School Camp community as an advisor to homeschooled and unschooled teenagers, and then I started my own little travel company, Unschool Adventures, which has kept me busy for 8+ years. Along the way I wrote three books — most recently The Art of Self-Directed Learning — and began speaking to parents and teens about the challenges and opportunities of self-direction, especially at the teenage level.
